Shaw-Clarke Has Another Big Night in Setback at St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Naythan Shaw-Clarke had another big night with a game-high 26 points in a 114-57 loss to host St. Thomas.
Shaw-Clarke was 12 of 18 from the field and added five rebounds and a team-high four assists after scoring a team-high 24 points in the season opener on Thursday night.
St. Thomas improves to 2-0 on the young season while UVI drops to 0-2.
Jalil Langston (14 points) and Eliyah Stevens (13 points) were both in double figures for the Virgin Islands. They both scored in double figures for the second straight night as Langston had 20 on Thursday and Stevens finished with 10 in the season opener.
The Bucs were 24 of 60 from the floor (40 percent) and connected on 2 of 15 from 3-point while. St. Thomas shot 56.3 percent from the field (36 of 64) hitting 15 of 35 from downtown.
St. Thomas used a 13-0 run to open up an 18-4 lead with 14:14 left in the first half.
The Bobcats led 48-25 at the half.
Shaw-Clarke led UVI with 11 first half points while Langston added nine points in the opening half.
St. Thomas outrebounded the Bucs 40-29, UVI was hurt by 26 turnovers.
The Bucs return home and will be back in action on Thursday, the opening night of the UVI HBCU Basketball Classic when they take on Southern University at New Orleans at 7:30.
