Keshara Romain Earns Two HBCUAC Weekly Honors
ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS, November 5, 2025 – University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) women's basketball student-athlete Keshara Romain earned two Historically Black Conference and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Player of the Week honors. Romain was recognized as both the Defensive Player of the Week and the Newcomer of the Week, following her selection by the conference voting committee earlier this week.
Romain is the first Lady Buccaneer to receive the HBCUAC weekly honor this season. Last week, the junior forward delivered two impressive performances, recording a total of 30 points, 31 rebounds, seven blocks, and three steals over the two-game span, en route to claiming both honors.
Standing at 5-foot-11, Romain is in her first season at UVI and has achieved a double-double in her last three games for the Lady Buccaneers this season. She currently averages 15 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. This two-way player also contributes significantly on the defensive end of the floor, where she averages three blocks and two steals per game.
A native of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Romain is also a member of the Virgin Islands Senior Women's National Team, where she has represented her home country for the past three years.
Joining Romain in receiving weekly honors from the HBCUAC are Kayla Lee of Fisk University, named Offensive Player of the Week, and Katelynn Wilson of Southern University of New Orleans, who was recognized as the conference's Freshman of the Week.
With Romain's outstanding start this season, she is making a name for herself in the HBCUAC and will look to continue her double-double streak the next time she takes the floor for the Lady Buccaneers.
