Patterson Records a Season-High 23 points in Loss to Tougaloo

Tougaloo, MS, January 13, 2024 – Brea Patterson recorded a season-high 23 points to lead the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Lady Buccaneer basketball team against Tougaloo College, but it was not enough as UVI fell 76-48 at the Kroger Gymnasium in Mississippi on Saturday afternoon.

In a game that got away early from the Lady Bucs (0-11, 0-7 GCAC), Patterson, was one of the bright spots for her team. The graduate transfer led all scorers on the evening. The 5-foot-6 guard got off to a slow start in the first two quarters but was able to settle in after the break delivering 16 of her 23 points in the second half of the contest.

Freshman forward Jada Isaac recorded a game-high 12 rebounds in the contest. Isaac also tallied two blocks and two steals to lead the Lady Bucs on the defensive end of the floor.

The Buccaneers leading scorer, freshman guard Ashukamayah Phillips, added 13 points and seven rebounds to her team's totals.

For Tougaloo College, Jalaeceia Smith had 16 points to lead her team.

The Lady Buccaneers will return home to the Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center for their next matchup as they host Dillard University on Thursday, January 25. In their last meeting the Bleu Devils were victorious 75-45.
